How to cook:

  1. Make sure your chicken is completely defrosted and season it 8 to 24 hours ahead of time. To season the chicken, dry it with paper towels and spray it lightly with oil. First, sprinkle the seasoning mix on the bottom of the chicken. Then, put the chicken on the rack it will cook on. Season the chicken's top. Put the chicken on the rack in the refrigerator (I put a tray or plate under it) until 90 minutes before you want to cook it.
  2. Take the chicken out of the oven 90 minutes before it's done and let it come to room temperature. If you haven't already, season your chicken now.
  3. Put the chicken on the rack and add 1 cup of chicken broth to the inner pot. Put the pressure lid on and make sure the valve is in the vent position. Set the timer for 6 minutes and choose the steam setting. When the timer goes off, take the pressure lid off and put the crisping lid back on. There's no need to get rid of the liquid.
  4. Choose "air crisp" and set the temperature and timer to 375°F/190°C for 60 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before opening the lid. After 40 minutes, check the temperature at least every 5–10 minutes until it reaches 165°F/74°C on the inside. It might not take the whole hour, so use a thermometer to make sure you don't overcook the chicken. Let the chicken sit for 10 minutes before cutting it up. Enjoy!

COOKING TIPS:

How do you steam a whole chicken in Ninja Foodi?

In just 15 minutes, you can use either the Ninja Foodi or Instant Pot to pressure cook a whole chicken. It's important to use water while pressure cooking and to place the chicken on a trivet above the water level. Once you've released the pressure using the release valve, you can air fry the chicken until the skin reaches your desired level of crispiness.

How do you crisp chicken in Ninja Foodi?

Insert the basket into the Ninja Foodi pot and distribute the chicken evenly. Utilize the Air Crisp feature at a temperature of 390*F for a duration of 15-18 minutes. Monitor the chicken at the halfway point to prevent overcooking. If necessary, flip the chicken. Ensure that the internal temperature reaches 165*F for thorough cooking.

How do you steam chicken in a ninja air fryer?

  • 4 lb whole chicken (ours was 4.5 lbs.)
  • 2 tbsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • chicken dripping gravy (make with drippings)

  • Sodium: 587 mg

How to cook:

  1. Wash your chicken, and if there is a bag inside, take it out.
  2. Paper towels can be used to dry up. Season both the top and bottom of the bird by rubbing it with olive oil. Spray non-stick spray on the inside of the air fryer basket and put the chicken in with the breast side down.
  3. Close the air fryer's lid and press the "air crisp" button at 360° for 30 minutes.
  4. Then turn the chicken over so the breast side is up. Cook remaining 30 minutes at 360 degrees. Before you eat meat, you should always check to make sure it has reached a safe temperature. It might take longer if your bird is bigger than mine.
  5. When it's done, take it out or leave it in the machine for at least 5 minutes to keep the juices. Cut it up and enjoy!
  6. If you can't keep an eye on the chicken, you can put it in a basket with the breast side up, cover it with olive oil and spices, and bake it at 360 degrees for an hour. This is also good, but the top will get a lot darker.
