I’m so excited to share this family recipe with you today. It’s a comforting dish, when I think of it, I immediately think of the holidays – Thanksgiving and Christmas – broccoli divine is always present! Broccoli is topped with cheddar and crispy buttery crumbles, and is then baked to perfection. It’s also a recipe I HAD to include in my cookbook Fast & Easy Five Ingredient Recipes: A Cookbook For Busy People(the book is on Amazon right now! AND in the book I also share my favorite mashed potatoes recipe, it’s definitely worth purchasing the book before Thanksgiving for all the awesome recipes in there, and they’re all super easy!)

While I was growing up, my mother taught my three sisters and I how to make this dish. Now, no matter where we spend our holidays (with our new in-laws or at family gatherings), whenever we send one another pictures of the spread, you can always spot this dish in the background. Our holidays would just not be complete without it. Do you have dishes like that? Dishes that just MAKE the holiday special? I’d love to hear what your family dishes are! This looks delicious. I was looking for a new side dish idea for Thanksgiving and this is it. I love all that cheesy flavor. Can’t wait to make it. And I know my kids will eat broccoli like that too.

    Hello Sweet Phi!!
This looks amazing. What are your thoughts about using fresh broccoli vs frozen? Would you change anything regarding the cooking time or anything else about it?
Looking forward to making this tonight. 😀 Thank you!!

Hi Kayla, hope it turned out well for you. I like using frozen broccoli because it is already cooked. If you use fresh broccoli (which I have done before) I would just cook the broccoli a little bit, separately, before making this dish. 🙂

Wouldn’t it be ok to make in a casserole dish, rather than on a pan? Sounds delish! Thank you!

Pretty sure we don’t have cheddar cheese soup here in Australia ?

Oh my goodness, you are right, I just googled it, and sure enough Campbell’s doesn’t sell it in Australia. I’m so sorry to hear that!
What I would suggest is either omitting it – it would still be super yummy with just the cheddar and bread crumbs, or you could make your own condensed cheddar -like-soup. For this I would use some velveeta cheese and a little bit of milk and warm it together.
